P-Aminophenol is an intermediate of fine chemicals mainly used in sectors of pharmaceuticals, rubber, dyestuffs, feed and petroleum. It can produce acetaminophen, sulfur dyes, acidic and neutral dyes and oxidizing dyes. It is an intermediate of rubber antioxidants 4010NA and 4020 series. It can also be used as antioxidant and additive in oil, food and feed.

Reflecting its slight hydrophilic character, the white powder is moderately soluble in alcohols and can be recrystallised from hot water. In the presence of base, it oxidizes readily. The N-methyl and N,N-dimethyl derivatives are of commercial value.
